POLYWAGGONS 2014 – QUEER ALTERNATIVE CSD PARTY
Auch dieses Jahr gibt es wieder ein queeres, vielseitiges Programm abseits des Mainstreams. Die Türen stehen offen für ALLE, die Lust haben mit einem vielfältigen Publikum und einem unkonventionellen Programm aus guter Musik, künstlerischen Performances und weiteren Überraschungen zu feiern. Die Polywaggons ist und bleibt die unkommerzielle Partyalternative beim CSD in Stuttgart!
Live haben für euch diesmal Crime aus Berlin da, ein DJ-Set von ADA (Pampa Records / Areal / IRR) und die DJ Gruppe „Flowers and Stardust“ aus Esslingen. Los gehts gemütlich um 20:00 Uhr draussen mit DJ „Herr Auth“, bevor es dann ab 23.00 drinnen weiter geht.
Wie immer erwartet euch eine erlesene Mischung aus Elektro/Queer/Indie/disco/80er und mehr. Natürlich gibt es auch wieder queere Aktions-Kunst, die üblichen Leckereien und den nicht mehr wegzudenkenden „Pink Pope“-Welcomeshot zur Begrüßung.
CRIME
CRIME, the Berlin-Based Duo comprised of Mika Risiko and Sarah Adorable, has been at full speed for a little over a year. With two European tours, numerous festivals, and an official music video worthy of several film festival screenings under their belt, Crime now has an EP ready for release. “Epiphany” includes a dark driving intro that lead us to 4 other tracks ranging from dancy to melancholic, conjuring up elements of techno, minimal wave, and pop.
Not surprising these two have an EP ready as well as many other songs waiting in the wings. Both come from other prolific projects and are well-embedded in the music scene. Risiko is known from the eclectic noisy punk project Sissters, and for doing soundtracks for underground film projects. Adorable spent a decade as half of Scream Club, the electro hip hop project, who toured endlessly throughout the US and western Europe, releasing 3 full length albums and a scattering of vinyl releases.
Live shows by this static wave duo are epic and leave us wanting more, much like the EP acts an an appetizer to what will surely be a dynamic full length. Crime’s “Epiphany” is mixed and mastered by Danish musical mastermind Heidi Mortenson, whos subtle touches allow the songs to flow as one piece even as each track stays unique.
Intricate melodies, unusual structures, and sophisticated percussion guide us through this creepy yet catchy, daring release. Cover art work is by Berlin’s celebrated artist/illustrator Stefan Fahler, whose work, like the EP, is punk yet polished.

ADA
Im Jahr 2002 hatte Ada einen ersten Auftritt als Sängerin in dem Stück Livedriver des deutschen Produzenten Metope, der gleichzeitig Label-Chef von Areal Records ist. Wenige Monate später erschien die erste eigene Single, Blindhouse / Luckycharm. Weitere Singles und Samplerbeiträge folgten, bis 2004 das Debütalbum Blondie von Areal Records veröffentlicht wurde. Weitere Singles und Beiträge folgten. 2011 wurde das Album Meine zarten Pfoten bei Pampa Records veröffentlicht.
Ada verbindet minimale Elektronik mit verstreuten weiblichen Gesangsparts. Das Musikmagazin Intro schreibt von einer „perfekten, emotional mitreißenden Symbiose“ (Arno Raffeiner in Intro 122). De:Bug nennt die Debütsingle Blindhouse / Lucky Charm „eine dieser Platten, die man jeden Tag zu seiner Lieblingsplatte erklären könnte“,2004 gewann Ada im gleichen Magazin die Wahl zur „Besten Künstlerin“.
ADA – BIOGRAPHY
Ada is overlapping all kinds of styles and rocking the house with heart and mind. Consistently danceable she delights with melancholic profundity and weird art of sawing. Greatest simplicity paired with soft sentimentality.
Her music crosses oceans with loud volumes and tender paws.
New York Times, on Blondie, Ada’s first album: This graceful German singer […] loves to push her house-inspired music in two directions at once, and the resulting tracks sound both ultradiluted (lots of blurred, misty computer sounds drifting in and out of the mix) and ultraconcentrated (with beats and basslines so precise that they’re almost violent).
Resident Advisor, on Meine zarten Pfoten, Ada’s latest album: The album is […] a more concise and esoteric piece of pop-craft. In fact, even given her previous allegiance with song-oriented techno, at first it’s almost astonishing to hear how compact everything here sounds. Recording all the instruments herself, the album’s filled with warm kaleidoscopic songs more concerned with emotional tethering than beat journeys.
Ada’s basic formula is a richly rewarding one; producers who can balance the intellectual and emotional thrills of synthetic music are rare.
